A Christmas Affair: Why the Yuletide Season is Perfect for Rekindling Romance

Yuletide and christmas loving does not have to be stressful

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Christmas has been said to be “the most wonderful time of the year,” just like what Andy Williams’ famous song states.

It is a time for families to come together especially those who live apart from each other and friends to renew their bonds during 10-year or so reunions.

The lyrics of the song Williams sang, seem to say it all.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you “Be of good cheer”
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
It’s the hap-happiest season of all

With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It’s the hap- happiest season of all”

Another thing that makes this season wonderful, is that it is the perfect time to bring back the romance into your relationship or if you aren’t in one yet, start a Christmas affair that could lead to a permanent one.

Whatever your love status is this holiday season, it’s still a great time to explore feelings and perhaps find healing for those with wounded hearts.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy

Falling in love isn’t easy, especially if last Christmas left you with a broken heart.

‘Last Christmas’ is the perfect anthem for the lovelorn but it doesn’t mean that they will never fall in love again.

It just means that they will be more careful about who they choose to give their heart to. So don’t be afraid to take the fall, especially when you find someone who is worth fighting for.

Christmas just might open the doors to your heart to some lovin’ that can last a lifetime.

It Started with a Kiss

Best friends forever but too scared to make a move to take your relationship to the next level?

Christmas is the perfect time to explore these what-could-be feelings that might bloom into something much more.

A friend once told me that the way to find out if you are attracted to someone is when you imagine kissing that person.

Use the mistletoe as an excuse to put your imagination to the test and see if sparks come alive when your lips meet. Don’t try to find courage in alcohol as it could be written off as a drunken mistake.

Or if you missed the legitimate mistletoe excuse, follow Harry and Sally’s cue in the movie, When Harry Met Sally, when they kissed during midnight on New Year’s Day.

Long-Distance Romance

Long-distance relationships are hard work but one of the things that you can look forward to is spending the holidays together.

This is why Christmas is the perfect time for rekindling romance, which can be challenging to do on online dates.

Take time to prepare a home-cooked meal for your sweetheart and spend quality time together.

If you’re feeling OC, go ahead and list down the activities you want or love to do.

Being spontaneous is even better.

In the unfortunate event that your partner is unable to make it home for Christmas — perhaps he’s only allowed to go on leave for the new year — you can still make that day special.

The use of video teleconferencing systems like Polycom can make your online date more intimate by setting up this atmosphere of being in the same room at the same time.

It will make you feel a little closer even if you are spending Christmas apart.

Treat it like a really special yet normal date.

Dress up and have a glass of wine.

Make sure your honey has a glass, too.

Pretty soon, New year will be here and you will finally celebrate the start of the year together.
